“We believe that reading does indeed give children power, to change the world with knowledge and imagination and it can also make trips on the bus even more enjoyable. We want to support this in our community” – Tony Ralph, Transdev Queensland Head of Business Operations

School students in the Redlands have the opportunity to get even more out of Book Week in 2019, with Transdev Queensland sponsoring a book voucher competition for the best costume worn next week, 17-23 August.

To enter, parents or carers need to submit a photo of the student in costume and submit it to the Redlands City Bulletin either on Facebook or via email.

The winning child will receive a $50 book shop gift voucher and an additional $200 voucher will be gifted to their school to extend their library collection.

The winner and their school will be notified by August 26.

Transdev Queensland operates public Transport on behalf of Translink and the Queensland Government, to provide bus services to approximately 2.6 million customers each year in the Redlands and Brisbane area.

The inspiration for this competition arose from feedback from network bus drivers who last year reported delight at the creative costumes worn by school students boarding their buses.

This year the theme of the Children’s Book Council Book Week is “Reading is my Secret Power.”

“We believe that reading does indeed give children power, to change the world with knowledge and imagination and it can also make trips on the bus even more enjoyable. We want to support this in our community,” Transdev Queensland Head of Business Operations Tony Ralph said.
