New partnership announced with mobility start-up, Liftango.

Transdev has today announced a new partnership with Newcastle-based mobility tech startup, Liftango.

The global mobility leader will work with Liftango, sharing industry expertise and resources, to develop on-demand transport solutions.

Transdev Australasia CEO Luke Agati said the two parties had shared ambitions to improve connectivity and promote greater adoption of public transport services across Australia and New Zealand.

“The partnership is an exciting opportunity to combine our shared strengths of innovation and mobility in order to provide a more personal and seamless experience for customers,” Mr Agati said.

“The success of our business is built on strong local partnerships and we are proud to be partnering with one of Australia’s most exciting local mobility startups in Liftango.”

Kevin Orr, CEO at Liftango, believes the partnership will help Liftango take the next leap forward towards making public transport a convenient and flexible option again.

“Cities around the globe are combating congestion and commuter issues, as our populations and urban density continues to grow. Further exacerbating the problem is the increasing demand for recent ride-hail solutions. We are still yet to understand the full impact of these services both on congestion and the public transport network,” said Mr Orr.

“However, the convenience these services offer is quickly becoming the norm for commuters.”

“Our partnership with Transdev is already creating new opportunities to integrate on-demand and shared mobility solutions into existing public transport networks, which will in turn help improve the commute, keep costs down, reduce our overall carbon footprint and start creating the transportation the cities of tomorrow will require. Transdev is a great partner and we are extremely excited about working with them on future mobility solutions that are shared.”

“This partnership will create new opportunities to integrate on-demand and share mobility solutions into our transport network and aims to improve the future liveability of our urban centres.”

Take up of on-demand services continues to grow, as customers seek more personal, adaptive and technology driven transport options. It is estimated that one in five Australians have used on-demand rideshare services in the last three months (Roy Morgan, 2019).

Transdev and Liftango have partnered to deliver on-demand services as part of the NSW Government’s ‘Sports Hopper’ trial in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney, Australia. The two companies have partnered on several on-demand projects elswhere throughout Australia.
