Transdev has appointed transport industry veteran Peter Lensink as Chief Officer and Managing Director for its New Zealand operations.

Peter is a senior executive with close to 25 years’ experience developing and implementing sustainable transport concepts and leading large rail and bus businesses in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

Most recently, Peter led Transdev Auckland as Managing Director.

Peter is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and a recognised leader within the Australasian transport industry; holding positions including Deputy Chair of the ARA’s Passenger Operators Executive, Board of Trustees Member of TrackSAFE NZ and Board member of Transdev Wellington, Howick & Eastern Buses in Auckland and Mana Coaches in Wellington.

Peter is firmly focused on Transdev’s ambition to support New Zealand in its drive to reduce carbon emissions and improve economic prosperity by improving sustainable transport opportunities.

“Making public transport more accessible and dynamic is going to make a material impact on reducing our emissions and environmental impact.

We are at a critical turning point in New Zealand where the transport industry can evolve to embrace sustainable transport options such as electric and hydrogen powered buses, greater investment in rail and more focus on on-demand travel to attract new customers to public transport.”

His key strategic priorities as Chief Officer and Managing Director of Transdev New Zealand will be to continue strengthening connections with local communities and stakeholders in Auckland and Wellington to support the best possible customer outcomes.
