Transdev Australasia – the leading private operator of public transport services in Australia and New Zealand – has received a 2018-19 Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) citation as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.

Transdev is one of 141 organisations awarded the citation this year, which is designed to encourage, recognise and promote active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.

Group Diversity and Talent Manager, People & Culture Donna Jones said the citation was welcome confirmation Transdev was on the right path to bring change to the traditionally male dominated transport industry.

“We’re in an industry that’s moving faster than ever, and creating an environment that allows everyone to bring their full selves to work is not only the right thing to do, it’s absolutely critical to our bottom line and our long term success,

“We’ve introduced Journey Maker training schools, flexible working, a new gender neutral parental leave policy and many more initiatives over the past two years,

“What makes our Diversity and Inclusion program successful, from my point of view, is that it’s equally employee led, with consultative councils in every operation, and leader driven.”

Transdev Australasia has also recently launched an INNOVATE Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in partnership with Reconciliation Australia.

Transdev’s INNOVATE RAP outlines the company’s commitment to reconciliation, and provides a framework to oversee practical actions to acknowledge, celebrate and provide opportunities for the First Peoples of Australia

“We want Australia’s First Peoples to feel welcome and valued as customers on our services, as suppliers, as stakeholders, and as employees,” Donna Jones said.

“Diversity and Inclusion includes a focus on reconciliation, and it has become part of how we work.”
